bl00dy beginner question

so I'm really new and have a repository I want to commit my latest work to.
however, when I right-click on the folder that I want to commit, I don't see the "commit..." option!

I checked the preferences and the "commit" option is clearly checked. still, it doesn't appear.

what am I doing wrong?
