Poor documentation - S4: Importing Data Into A Repository

This will be my second time installing Tortoise and the documentation
hasn't gotten any better from a few years ago. The problem below is in
my opinion a major problem with beginners in Tortoise SVN. It would be
nice of someone wrote the proper words to eliminate the confusion.

In section 3 of the manual, it talks about Repository Layout and that
section makes sense. In section 4, Importing Data Into A Repository,
however, it suggests skipping the Import command and using the
instructions under the heading "Importing in Place". It looks easy,
but all I wound up with the three subfolders Trunk Branches and Tags
and the new subfolder "MyProj1" under the root with my existing code
files and folders under it. This certainly doesn't look as like the
proper structure in section 3. There is clearly not enough written in
that part of section 4 to make things work. It would appear that the
folder to be imported has to have some structure, but who knows what
that is and how it got to be.
