branch with subfolder gives "path not present"

hi

if I branch "/trunk" to "/branches/b1"
it works ok (folder "b1" is created for me)

but if I branch "/trunk/folder" to "/branches/b1/folder"

I get the error "path 'branches/b1' not present"

I was expecting the software to create that folder for me

(Of course it doesn't exist yet - it is the tools job to create it)

Is this by design?
Is there an option to modify this behaviour?
Is it a bug?

The workaround is to use the repo-browser to manually create the branch folder
