Well, I'm looking for a solution to this VERY ANNOYING inconvenient, and your reply didn't help at all.

I can't agree with that, I had 1.6.9 installed, and a dialog annoyed me everyday until I clicked in that evil link to download the BOMBWARE version. Now I'm here looking for WHAT THE F*** happened.

Sorry, but being free is not an excuse to make something like that.
