Ok. Some antivirus software out there really gets in the way of
development. We recently ran into an issue where McAffee AV was
blocking the compiler and/or SVN from working with its files because it
was scanning all new files. If you can imagine the process of
compilation and SVN updates which create new files or update existing
ones while being blocked by the AV software--it didn't work out too
well. For us, the "On-Access Scan" feature on McAffee was giving us
fits. Since it was also running on the server, we had to whitelist the
SVN server operations on the repository directories.

To date, the AV software that has given me the least fits would be
Sunbelt's Viper. It's fast, does its job, and stays out of your way.
It even caught things that Norton missed. Did I mention it was fast?

Anyway, I guess it's a lesson to put in the FAQ. AV software can play
havoc with services like TSVNCache, the SVN client, and your code
compiler.
