Emergent: Move operation caused permanent deletion of files

Hello everyone,

I am new to this list but have been using TortoiseSVN for a while. I
am using version 1.6.10.

An emergence just happened to me an hour. I am writing to get help
from you. I was moving some versioned java files to a new subfolder
that was just created and haven't been added to svn. The operation I
did was:

1. selected those files I wanted to move
2. drag them to the destination subfolder with the right mouse button
3. select move versioned files from the popup menu

After that, all the selected files suddenly disappeared. They are
neither in the original folder and nor in the destination subfolder,
also not in the Recycle bin. It looked that they were permanently
deleted. I suspect that it's because the destination folder hasn't
been added to svn. Is this file deletion action by design?

Now I am trying to recover my files with recovery software. The files
are on a NTFS volume with compression enabled, though the files being
deleted were not compressed. I tried Easy Recovery and EASEUS
