I'll dig deeper into Novel atomicity but I'm not sure I'll uncover anything interesting. There are a few netware client settings I might be able to tweak so you never know.

However, using the WinXP 32 bit machine simply makes the problem go away. The same versions as used on Windows 7 all play nicely together.

BTW - I uninstalled 64bit Slik SVN and installed the same version 32bit Slik and the problem recurred.

Jean-Marc suggested the subversion libraries were the problem but I reckon it is Windows 7 64bit funny business arising from some weird or failed attempt to make it appear more secure just finding a (possibly) new corner case.

At least it is repeatable.
