obstructed

i checked out a fresh copy and made few changes to the files.
i had around 8 files (6 files in one directory 'say dir1' and 2 files in another directory 'say dir2') to commit.
when i did the first one from dir1, it was successful, immediately i tried svn status from dir1 it showed "svn: '.' is not a working copy"
when i did svn status from my parent directory, it marked that folder as obstructed.

so i did the to file in dir2, same result...

now both directories are marked obstructed...any suggestions?
