context menu does not appear for file extension ".mat" on Windows/XP

Thank you in advance for any help:

  Today, I installed (and reinstalled to make the icons work)
  TortoiseSVN 1.6.8, Build 19260 - 32 Bit , 2010/04/16 20:20:11
  on Windows XP, Service Pack 3

Nearly everything works correctly except:

When I right click on files with the extension of ".mat" the TSVN
context menu items do not appear. (The context menu items do appear
in nearly every other case, for example on directories or files with a
'.m' extension).

The '.mat' files have green checkbox icon correctly (i.e., they are
recognized as being part of the SVN repository).

I have checked the Global Ignore pattern setting, which is in its
default state

   *.o *.lo *.la *.al .libs *.so *.so.[0-9]* *.a *.pyc *.pyo *.rej *~
#*# .#* .*.swp .DS_Store

I don't know what else to investigate, and I would appreciate a
suggestion.
