Windows 7 & Tortoise SVN

Is there any known problem/resolution with tortoise SVN and Windows 7?
I had been using SVN on Vista with no issues. Got a new HP laptop a
month ago with Windows 7 64 bit, downloaded and installed Tortoise and
immediately started seeing these kinds of messages intermittently on
all SVN operations:

Error: Can't move
Error: '[....]\.svn\tmp\entries'
Error: to
Error: '[....]\.svn\entries':
Error: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.

[....] could by any directory in the project. It's what I would
describe as "regularly intermittent" in the sense that it will work,
then not work alternately random numbers of times. I've of course run
chkdsk etc., ran the BIOS-level diagnostics which report no hard drive
issues. Now: Windows 7 says I need to check the disk for "consistency"
often on startup too. What's odd is - no other software on the laptop
reports problems accessing the disk except Tortoise so - I'm just
trying to draw a correlation. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
