Grey-highlighted lines in Log Messages dialog

When I bring up the log for certain files and folders,
sometimes the top-most item in the first pane has a grey
background. (It's looks exactly like the selected line
does when you switch to a different app.)

After searching and trying about everything I can think
of, I conclude that this is an "undocumented feature".
