Access is denied after windows reinstallation

I am using tortoisesvn at home for a personal open source project. Everything worked fine until I reinstalled Windows XP. The repository was on my second disk that was untouched by the reinstallation. Now if I try to commit I get the message:

"Can't open file ;G:\svn\db\txn-current-lock': Access is denied."

I would think it is a user account problem, there is some subtle difference in my old user account to my new one although I have kept the same user name. I have spent some time googling but have found no solution.
