I'm guessing you did Show Log for the folder, found the revision where
the file was deleted and right-clicked on it in the bottom pane to
show log for the file. I get the same result, which seems like a bug.
It is using the WC revision rather than taking the revision being
viewed in the bottom pane. And for deleted items should it be the
revision before that?

Only to go through the folder history to find at which revision it was
deleted. once you know the last revision it existed in you can use
repo browser, select that revision, find the file and show log from
there.

An enhancement to repo browser would be that when set it to a much
older revision where I know the file definitely existed and show log
from there it would use that rev as a peg rev and get the entire
history of the file, before and after that revision. That may already
be done in trunk, but I don't have a trunk build here to test at the
moment.
