You haven't told us anything about your setup.
What protocol are you using (http://, svn://, file://)?
Is your working copy on a local hard drive, a network share, a USB stick?
Is the server on your LAN or is it remote?
What OS are you running?
Do you have a virus scanner active?

Try the official subversion command line client (from
subversion.apache.org). Is that any quicker?
