Request Entity Too Large

I am running the latest version of SVN on my Windows XP PC. I am trying to
checkout the contents of a repository, but it is not completing without
errors. The initial checkout failed halfway through (I did not make a note
of the error message), and now each time I try to do an update it fails with
the message "Server sent unexpected return value (413 Request Entity Too
Large) in response to REPORT request for '/westminster/!svn/vcc/default'".

I can open up a repository browser window and copy the files to my hard
drive, but this does not include any version control info, so SVN does not
consider my local copy to be in sync with the repository.
