Imagine following scenario. I have created a repository on a server. The users having access to this repository basically only can update their local files after I have modified or added files to the repository. The user therefore just needs to be informed if something has changed and whether he has to update or not. The "check for modifications" is sub-optimal because the user has to remember to check all the time.
Therefore, I am looking for a possibility to automatically trigger a "check" of the repository (in regular intervals e.g. every hour) which will then also correctly update the overlay icons in the explorer. My main intention is really to give the user a visual signal letting him know that knew files are available.

Hope this makes it clearer.
