Overlay Icons in show wrong status

I have TortoiseSVN 1.5.5 installed and would like to have the overlay icons to show the correct status after doing a "SVN Check for modifications".
I understand the reason why one has refrained from automatically checking the configured repositories due to performance issues. But somehow it should be possible to update the overlay icons after performing a "SVN check for midification". Does anybody know how this could be done?
