Status of serf support

I've tried to activate serf manually by adding a "http-library = serf" key
in the registry (screenshot attached), killing the TortoiseProc and
TSVNCache process, and then updating a view. This seems to work perfectly
OK, but I doubt if serf is actually used. The problem is that updating a
view works OK without any error messages on my computer, regardless of what
I write as http-library value in the registry. My machine is equipped with
64bit TortoiseSVN 1.6.6.

What is the status of serf support in TortoiseSVN?

Thanks in advance,
Fredrik
