Checkout single file

Hi,

I am aware that the subversion FAQ says you can only checkout a folder but I am
looking to checkout a single file. I have read else where that you can retrieve
a sparse copy by doing the following:

1) svn checkout <url_of_big_dir> <target> --depth empty

2) cd <target>

3) svn up <file_you_want>

In TortoiseSVN I am essentially able to do steps 1 and 2 but for step 3 I cant
seem to be able to update a single file that doesn’t exist in my local copy.
Does anyone know how I can do step 3 or checkout a single file using TortoiseSVN?

Thanks,

Graeme
