Microsot Visual C++ Runtime Library Error

Tortoise version 1.5.9, XP laptop. When doing a merge svn to local, the merge processes a revision and appears to finish. But before the statistics appear, the error "The application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusal way" appears.
