TSVN 1.6.5 and Win7 x64 missing overlays

On my Win7 x64 box, TSVN 1.6.4 64-bit (from
TortoiseSVN- worked essentially
perfectly... as I was saying here only a few days ago. ;)

So, last night, I tried to install TSVN 1.6.5 64-bit (from
TortoiseSVN- - and that broke overlays in a
nasty way.

The 2 main symptoms are:

1) the ONLY overlays I could see (with 1.6.5) were the "modified"
indicators - and these ONLY in the left (folder) pane of the Explorer

2) the happily coexisting TCVS 1.11.3 overlays were also GONE

After MANY full cycles of uninstalling, rebooting, installing,
rebooting, this behavior did not change. The ONLY way I got my system
back to having working overlays was to uninstall TSVN, TCVS, and the 2
"TortoiseOverlays" packages. Then I installed TSVN 1.6.4 x64 and TCVS
1.11.3, and life was once again good. :|

Two observations:

1) the TSVN 1.6.4 TSVNCache process only appears in my Process Explorer
listing at the "top level" - i.e., like wininit.exe and winlogon.exe,
its parent process is no longer with us... with TSVN 1.6.5, OTOH, the
TSVNCache process has been started by a copy of explorer.exe started by
services.exe started by wininit.exe - 3 generations of its parents are
still around

2) just installing TSVN 1.6.x does NOT install the "TortoiseOverlay"
packages - they seem to only show up in my Uninstall list if I also
install TCVS 1.11.3

Finally, this is NOT about a TSVN/TCVS interaction - I only mention the
TCVS breakage as an additional TSVN 1.6.5-induced casualty. The
problems with TSVN 1.6.5 overlays are present whether TCVS is installed
or not.
