TortoiseSVN 1.6.4 x64 very slow commit and update

I just installed x64 edition of TortoiseSVN 1.6.4, rebooted Windows Vista,
and found that the update and commit operations take an exceedingly long
time - several minutes - to show any results in the dialog box. I do not
observe the same problem on an x86 Windows XP (virtual) machine.

Anybody else witnessing similar stalling problems?
