Unexpected non-recursive checkouts

Hi!

A colleague just showed me a case where he had a working copy that wouldn't
update as expected. He had added some files and modified others from a
different machine and and committed those changes. On the machine with the
issue, he updated his working copy and (I think) the updates appeared while
added files didn't.

Looking at the Subversion tab of the Explorer's property dialog, the "depth"
was set to "working copy". Other dirs that worked as expected had this field
set to "fully recursive".

Unfortunately, I can't provide a recipe to reproduce the issue. Using "update
to revision" with "update depth" set to "fully recursive" instead of the
default "working copy" resolved the problem, but the same can't be used to
recreate the problem.

Questions:
 - Has anyone else experienced similar issues?
 - Is there any common pitfall that could switch the "depth" to "working
copy", i.e. something I can just avoid or use to explain the behaviour?
 - How can I change that depth at all?

Thank you!

Uli
