Mike,

Yes, I can confirm that overlays are kind of less robust in 1.6.x now. Something that was working much better in 1.5.x (same Vista 32-bit).

I tried tip with tweaking exclude/include paths that lukerymarz recommended - it did make Explorer showing folder tree much faster, but didn't make overlays anymore robust. Again, everything was working better without any tweaks in 1.5.x
