TortoisePLink Incompatible With PortableApps/Putty

This is a very subtle issue and perhaps I am the only lucky one to every find it..

The portable apps suite includes a modified version of putty that saves the configuration within the install directory instead of the registry. If you open a connection using this version I am guessing it loads their version of a dll into memory that TortoisePLink depends on. The result is a Putty Connection Timeout error. I am assuming this has never been reported before and I was just lucky to run into this since every google search just turned up people who didn't have their proxy servers or urls set correctly.

It took me considerable time to find this since I have been using Putty for more years than I can count and could also issue svn command directly from cygwin. I don't have any known workaround other than to make sure to not be using the portable apps version before launching a tortoise repository function.. Perhaps you could statically link TortoisePLink or perhaps there is a version id you could detect and produce a compatibility error, but at least get this noted in the FAQ or somewhere that google will index (this mailing list?)..

And yeah, I can blame the Portable Apps guys for also thinking they are the only ones to create derivitave versions of Putty..
