Explorer extremely slow after updating ot latest version of TortoisesSVN

I recently updated to the latest version. Ever since, dipslaying/
saving/opening anything takes a minute or more. I never had this
problem with earlier versions. This is the only software I've
installed recently, so I would guess that it is the issue.

Any ideas?

Is it possible to install the prior version? How?
