What's you're asking is simply not possible. Well, not really. We
*could* compile version 1.5.9 for you, but mark it as 1.6.0.

If you're using 1.6.0, that version has new features which require the
new wc format. Disabling that new format would also disable all the new
features.
1.6.0 without the new features is the same as 1.5.9...
