Tortoise/Subversion with Visual Web Developer Express?

Hi All: I'm newbie to subversion and tortoise, so please direct me to the
appropriate place if this list is not where I should be posting.

I've been tasked with implementing subversion in a Windows environment,
currently with a single developer working with Visual Web Developer 2005
Express Ed.

The developer opens the development website from a remote connection, using
FrontPage Server Extensions. When they're ready to publish from the
development server to the live server, they connect to the development
server using terminal services, open VWDEE on the server and open the web
using "local file system", and then "copy web" to the live server.

It seems like this workflow would have to change, but I'm hoping someone
could point out how it would need to change, or point me to the appropriate
resources to figure this out?

Is there any way to integrate subversion/tortoise into VWD, or would the
developer need to start using VisualStudio instead? Or can the editing be
managed just using Tortoise standalone? Would the developer have to open the
website using webDAV to access it as a local mapped drive instead of
updating via HTTP?

Thanks in advance for any help!
