Users don't see red icon after a modification

Hello to everyone,
I just installed VisualSVN server in a PC and Tortoise into other 3 PC. The OS of every system is WinXP PRO.
I have created a repository with VisualSVN and I have used Tortoise to link that repository into the other PC.

Now the trouble: when a file has been modified and updated from 1 of the PC, the others didn't see the change of icon color from green to red. Instead if they make a "check for modification", they can see that another user has made some changes into a file.

I thought that if one tortoise user makes some changes in a file into repository and makes a commit, the other users should see that icon change from green to red...

Why not?

Many Thanks,
Marco
