OPTIONS of: ..... could not connect to server

I'm trying to connect to an SVN repository that is working just fine
for other members of our team in other locations.

I've tried connecting from two different computers, and neither
connects. On one computer, an attempt to Browse or Checkout yields
the following error:

OPTIONS of: '<pathname>': could not connect to server (<pathname>)

On the other computer, the browser or checkout window just hang with
an hourglass.

I can telnet to the port in question, and can access the SVN server
via a Web browser (I get a notice about the certificate at that
location, so I know the connection is working).

The connection is using SSL on port 8443.

Any thoughts? I'm at a loss...
