Well, they're available for the items (i.e. changed files and folders),
but not for the root folder that contains all those files and on which
I've right clicked to run "Check for modifications" - unless I'm missing
something.

At least in the case of commit I'd have no problem with the CfM dialog
being closed and being replaced by the commit dialog on the same folder
- sure, you can do a select all and choose "Commit" from the context
menu but why add an unneeded extra step?
