Creating a branch...

Apologies - SVN newbie here. I'm trying to create a branch in our
project so that I can work on a nasty bug introduced in my local
working copy without disturbing the main-line development. I've tried
following the documentation here (http://tortoisesvn.net/docs/release/
TortoiseSVN_en/tsvn-dug-branchtag.html). No luck. At first it was
telling me that the path I was trying to copy to was not found - so I
created the path in question (branches/newstuff in the root
directory). Now it errors out, telling me that the directory already
exists. What exactly is it looking for here?
