How best to stop a dir tree being a working copy

Hi

I'm fairly new to using Subversion/TortoiseSVN and use it very lightly.

I have decided I want to remove a dir tree or maybe a whole repository as it
does not require versioning and is backed up elsewhere.

Some of the files in a working copy of the dir tree are in use.

I would like to make the whole of that working copy dir tree not a working
copy but without deleting it.

I can think of ways to achieve this (eg deleteing all the .svn folders) but
I wondered whether there is a 'proper'/instant way to do it.

TIA
Mark
