Steve, do you happen to use a HP/Compaq laptop with HP ProtectTools
Security Manager (or the similar password-keeping tool) running ?
That's it ! ( I was scratching my head for a day being effectively
isolated from my repository by this strange dialog flashing, until
i've found this conversation and the idea sparked in my mind :-). Kill
all traces of this HP thing in process explorer -- the Network dialog
should remain now. I suppose it tries to attach to any window with
password input and then it decides to close that window for whatever
reason.
