(problem summary: some files in the working copy have CRLF lineendings, even
on unix)

One approach is to check out the file on a Windows PC, set the svn:eol-style
to native and then checking it in again. Updating on the unix PC should then
create the file with LF instead of CRLF.

If the file has mixed line endings, you should fix them on one of the
platforms (either search and destroy all ^M chars on the linux box or use a
text editor that can convert the lineendings as you want them).
