Thnaks for that tip - strangely it didn't occur to me since the
original premise was: "I want to download the library and get the
latest without browsing it". But it was only later that I decided to
make the top level "Delphi-Version Specific" which implies at least
checking the top folder layer for relevence before downloading.
People who have used SVN a lot would probably have thought of that
first (shows me up for a novice!).
Of course, repeating the top level Delphi-Version Specific Library
Structure folder structure under an "ARCHIVED" top folder would have
the same desirable effect: I choose the Delphi versions I want, and
then optionally have a look in the archive: all effectively at the top
level. Neat.
However, that only really addresses the "reduce the download" aspect
of the system. The other aspect is when in use: when I find perhaps
that a modded library subfolder deep down in the layers is not quite
what I want. The idea behind the batch-file approach was to have
something local to that library that would retrieve the archived stuff
- giving a hint that it exists at the most likely place I'd be
looking. I guess, my batch file could now operate by fetching the
archived part to the working directory at that point in the
structure. I'lll have to have a think about that.
