What do you expect for a new file? Such a file does not have a previous revision!

Ideally, the "diff with previous version" menu item wouldn't be available for files with a single revision. In lieu of that more friendly message would be nice. It's a pretty low priority, however. Not the best possible implementation, but not an unreasonable one either.
