Internal diff runs instead of external diff (sometimes)

Although I have configured Tortoise to use Araxis Merge for all diff
operations, including the unified diff, I have found that when I try
to invoke the diff from the log view, it SOMETIMES invokes the built-
in Tortoise diff tool instead of Araxis Merge.

Has anyone seen this before?
