This is not a bad idea to use SVN with samba.

I use a cms on a linux-Server. My components are local copies of the
svn library.
With samba I can change files from my windows client and check the
programms
with my browser, because linux uses the same directories for apache
(www).
For me this is the best solution for testing web-extensions.
