Thanks, Kurt, that did it. I had to set the (2).svn folder to unhidden before the DOS command would allow me to rename it. I then hid it and did a cleanup, and everything's OK.

Use the command prompt to rename files when explorer balks at the names:

ren "(2).svn" ".svn"

should do the trick...
