You mean the "Recent messages" button? Because currently you need
*two* tabs to get from the edit box to the file list.

Actually, I use "Recent messages" very rarely, and when I do I use the
mouse (since then I'd have to pick a message from the list anyway).

Indeed, people who prefer the keyboard should be used to both Tab and
Shift-Tab, so it seems natural to me to need a Tab to go to the often
used file list, and a Shift-Tab to the more rarely used Recent message
button.
