Tortoise Error

I am a total Tortoise neophyte, so please bear with me. When trying
to update my local SVN folder, I get error: .......Path/folder_name
locked. Use clean-up

When I navigate to the "locked" folder and use the "unlock" command
nothing apparent happens.

When I then use the "clean-up" command I get the error: Error at Entry
6 in entries file......path/folder/name: BOGUS DATE. I do not see
any file modification dates that look out of the ordinary to me.

I can find nothing the Users Guide pertaining to these errors and am
out of ideas. Thanks in advance.
