commit fails - comment saved in recent log messages?

One of my colleagues defined a pre-commit check to
a) ensure consistent formatting
b) ensure consistent application of svn properties (eol-style and keywords)

Recently, I attempted to commit some files, and one or more of my files failed this pre-commit check.

In the past, I could simply fix the offending file(s), find the original proposed log message among the recent messages, and then recommit the batch.

Now, I am using version 1.4.8, and that message no longer seems to appear in the recent messages.

Is that a bug or a feature?

I prefer the old behavior, and hope that I can convince the maintainers to return it, either in 1.4.x and/or in 1.5.

Thanks,
Chuck
