Hello list,

I would like to make a small suggestions concerning checking out files
from an SVN server using turtoise SVN on a Windows client.

What caused this suggestion:

- Checking out a project with 24000 java files using the
TortoiseSVN 1.4.8 checkout context menu in a Windows XP SP2 Vmware
environment.

What happened:

- It stalled at random times.

How did I fix it:

- I deactivated the Indexing service on Windows (on it's own
that wasn't enough but I like to believe it helped, you can also tell
windows not to index your folder in folder properties)

- I deactivated tortoise svn Icon Overlay on the folder in
which I was checking out.

- And every thing checked out smoothly

What is the suggestion:

Perhaps it is an idea for Tortoise SVN for Windows to have the option to
:

- Automaticly turn of the Icon Overlay option for the files and
folders that are being checking in and the files in that parent folder
and the parent folder itself.

- Then turn it on automaticly when action has finished, only if
it was turned on in the first place ofcourse.

Hope this helps in solving the hangup problem for windows, all I could
find about it was some remark about Virusscanners, filehandles and such.

At least this one worked for me.

Ed
