Re: how to download sourceforge branch read-only

As a general remark, let me state that there have been many situations
where I have needed to download a subversion directory, and the
project website will say, download this branch, use TortoiseSVN and
rather that explain what steps to take, they simply link to the
Tortoise documentation.

This happens often enough that I smell a trend. The problem is that
Tortoise documentation is less geared to daily use than to server
administration. As such, it is mostly useless for users like myself.

(An exception is the wordpress docs to using subversion, which seems
logical and straightforward http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing/Updating_WordPress_with_Subversion
).

For example, if you look at TortoiseSVN docs, the first step to take
seems to be the first step to take seems to be this topic
http://tortoisesvn.net/docs/nightly/TortoiseSVN_en/tsvn-dug-checkout.html
, and this appears in Chapter 5. And even then, I'm not sure if
checking out is really the first step I'm supposed to take.

Here's a question that maybe you can answer: Does TortoiseSVN provide
a way to turn (albeit temporarily) the failure noise? I've always been
wondering on how to do this.
