I suggest checking the log for one of a few things:
1. Repository dumped and restored with your revision(s) wiped out.
2. Later revision(s) which moved folders back to their original
locations (someone assuming that you made a mistake, because Subversion
by default should not allow someone to blindly do this; or maybe the
result of a strange merge operation from another branch)
I don't think you can move multiple directories at once using the
repository browser. You can right-drag folders in Explorer to schedule
the appropriate move operations from within your WC, and then commit it
all as one atomic revision.

I remember this incremented the revision number of the repository.
I actually did the move for quite a number of directories in such
fashion.
And all of them appear to me at the same original place now. I however
did
the move operation per directory, so there were as many number of
commits
done against the repository. To add to the question, is there a way in
which
we can move multiple directories at the same time?

What, exactly did you check? Your WC? The Repo Browser? The log? Are
you certain you're looking at the HEAD revision?
