I tried this, and now it breaks on 'MKACTIVITY'
what seems to happen is that I am successfully authenticated on the
first request, but every subsequent request is malformed somehow, or
not authenticating properly.

That would explain how I am able to access the repository for 5
seconds before it gives me the 401 error again.

ah well, I guess I'll just have to use BASIC Authentication.
