New overlays on directories

I just installed r11770 and tried out the new overlays for ignored and
unversioned items. They seem to work fine for files, but don't "stick"
on directories. If you create a new directory it will show up as
unversioned, but if you hit refresh, the overlay disappears. This also
appears to be the case for ignored directories, but to see it you have
to have the ignore in place before making the folder.
