OK. With nightly build: straight clean checkout without doing anything
works ok now, since host has already been updated to the new one. Same
behaviour if I clear the authentication data. Also, the Clear button is
now greyed out if I go back to Settings after cancelling the checkout
after seeing that it started ok (nothing new has been stored presumably).

So, sorry, I can't reproduce any more, since my system is now working ok
with the new host and I have no control over that side of things.
