Well, there's definitely something fishy with the non-admin install. I guess
that the
registry gets set somewhere at the end of the installation process.

I didn't install the CRT/MFC libs, initially I just copied them from a XP
machine to the win2k
machine's \windows\system32 (which is required to be writeable by certain
other
installed programs on our site); however, on other machines, I didn't need
to 'install'
the CRT/MFC libs, just fiddling with the registry was enough.

I guess that I'm just lucky, and that this would not have been possible on
XP.
